• Birthplace of General Jan Smuts, South African statesman and one of the authors of the United Nations Founding Charter, situated in the grounds of the PPC cement factory near Riebeek West, approximately 10km from Riebeek Kasteel.
  
  
• Six excellent wineries, all within 15 minutes drive from Riebeek Kasteel, including the famous Allesverloren Estate, home of some award-winning Shiraz wines. Most are open for wine tastings and sales.
