“As we descended into this enchanting valley, passing olive groves on the way, we could sense that this was no ordinary place. We spent that afternoon lazing on the shady veranda. It was hot, but pleasantly so. Above us, bougainvilleas proudly showed off their abundant blooms as life in the village quietly went its own way. Somewhere in the background, Charles Aznavour reminisced about a love long lost. Up on a hill, the vines had lined up in neat rows, as if they were waiting to have their loads lightened after what must have been a hard, dry season. Amongst them, a windmill occasionally moaned as it tried to eke out a living with the help of a gentle breeze pushing to escape the merciless gaze of the sun.”
